At Medium’s most recent company offsite, we tried something new: Every morning, when we gathered together to start our day, we took a page out of The Artist’s Way and spent 15 minutes writing morning pages together. And for those 15 minutes, the room where the 75 of us gathered was totally quiet…except for the sound of typing. Now, if you haven’t been so fortunate to be in a room of 75 people quietly typing out their thoughts, you wouldn’t know that it sounds an awful lot like the sound of soft rain. And you wouldn’t know that it would be so deeply peaceful, or that it would maybe make the small hairs on the back of your neck tingle the first time you heard it. You wouldn’t know it’s the sound of loving writing.
